April 27th 2008. The McCanns to write a book about their' year of hell ' although not quite a year had elapsed !!!..STRIKE while the iron is hot, this is what the Smarts did, within eight months a movie and books galore. Elizabeth, even jumped on the bandwagon and wrote her own 'account of the truth' How much debt are the McCanns in , have they paid the court costs incurred when Mr.Amaral overturned the right to sell his book ? ANORAK have always had their finger on the pulse when it comes to the McCanns games and they are not fooled by any of it.

MADDIE WATCH – Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
NEWS of The World: “McCanns: Our year of hell over missing Maddie”

Says Kate McCann: “There were many moments when we hit rock bottom and sobbed, wondering how we could survive without knowing where our little girl was.

“It is pure torture to deal with and it has been a long year of hell. But what keeps us going is our overwhelming faith that Madeleine is alive and will come home.”

Says Gerry McCann “It is so hard at times, but we have to try and retain some normality for our other children.”
They revealed their turmoil to Ed Smart, whose 14-year-old daughter Elizabeth was found nine months after she was abducted from her bedroom in Salt Lake City, Utah, in 2002.
THE TIMES: “McCann’s to write book in order to raise funds to continue search”
Says Clarence Mitchell: “It will be the family’s story, the only official book. Kate and Gerry are both keen to put the truth of everything that has happened to them on record. It will be a detailed account of their experience, from the pain of the night Madeleine was kidnapped to being named as official suspects in the investigation.”

What about a calendar: The McCann Year?
Scott Pack, a former head of buying for Waterstone’s, said that the McCanns’ book would fall into the category of “misery memoir” or “inspirational biography”. He said: “I am sure there will be huge interest among publishers because it has the potential to be a huge success and they will not want it to go to someone else. It is bound to go for a decent amount and I think you are talking of at least £500,000. It could go for a million.”
Of course, it’s not the first book on the matter. And there will be more…

THE TIMES: “‘Madeleine McCann was abducted by an opportunistic paedophile’”
Says Mark William-Thomas: “The investigation into the disappearance of Madeleine McCann is like no other I have seen before or will hopefully ever see again.”
So says the “former detective and authors on peadophile crimes”.
Madeleine became the victim of an opportunist and predatory paedophile. The abductor either lives in or had contact with Praia da Luz.
Thank you, detective. Any evidence?

THE INDEPENDENT: “From MI6 to Maddy”
‘The Mail on Sunday’ last week ran a “special investigation” into the police hunt for Madeleine McCann by David Rose, billed as “Britain’s foremost investigative reporter”. Could this be the same D Rose who admitted last autumn to having been duped into peddling misinformation for the Secret Service as a young hack? In a piece for the ‘New Statesman’ he confessed to penning “somewhat breathless” articles for ‘The Observer’ after being treated to Darjeeling and eclairs at the Ritz by an “urbane” senior MI6 agent exuding “clandestine glamour” and carrying a “rolled-up copy of ‘The Times’”.
GLASGOW SUNDAY MAIL: “Gerry McCann’s brother in pilgrimage to Portugal”
A pilgrimage?
GERRY McCANN has asked his brother John to go on a pilgrimage to Portugal to mark the first anniversary of Madeleine’s disappearance.Every week expats and locals attend a service at the tiny Our Lady of the Light Church to remember Madeleine in a service for missing children.
Says John McCann: “I am sure returning will be very emotional but I am going there to meet the people who have kept a regular vigil for Madeleine and thank them personally. Their commitment to prayer shows she has far from disappeared from their minds.” Worshippers say a special prayer “for those who have acted in evil or practised acts of kidnapping”.

SYDNEY MORNING HERALD: “But these girls just wanna have water”
A survey of 4500 Girl Guides has identified the top concerns among girls aged five to 17 on a local, national and global level.

The report, What Girls Say, pinpoints water conservation in Australia as the most important issue for girls, with 21 per cent naming it among the three issues they cared most about.

Next came global warming (19 per cent), the environment (18 per cent), poverty (15 per cent), addictions and animal cruelty (both 8 per cent).

Kidnapping also emerged as a concern among the girls, who participated in the survey during the peak of publicity surrounding the disappearance last year of the British child Madeleine McCann in Portugal.
